Tech for teens

February 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Tech 4 Teens workshops are for girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. All of the sessions will be really interactive, creative and fun! Throughout 2017 we will meet up once a month to get inspired and meet like minded girls. We will be learning new things and learning from each other.

In February we will be visiting the University of Liverpool’s School of Engineering to work on an engineering problem in their lab!

Design, Development and Testing of a High Altitude Air Vehicle

On Sunday 14th October 2012 Felix Baumgartner made a record-breaking sky-dive from 24 miles above Earth. He

jumped from a launch capsule suspended from a gas balloon which was held at neutral buoyancy to provide a

stationary platform.

In this activity you will play the part of a team of engineers tasked with investigating the buoyancy of helium filled

balloons, and determining the size of balloon required to hold a model launch capsule at neutral buoyancy. Your

science and engineering will be evaluated in a test flight at the end of the activity!

You will need to work quickly and efficiently as a team to get the job done within one hour.

The sessions are FREE to attend thanks to the support of the Big Lottery fund but you do need to register so that we know how many girls will attend.

**Venue and activities are subject to changes - details will be sent out by email before each session to those who have registered**
