Join us for a special film screening of Code Girl for International Women’s Day at the UK’s leading arts and technology centre, FACT. The film will be preceded by a panel discussion hosted by Liverpool Girl Geeks and inspired by this years theme; #BeBoldForChange. Each ticket also includes a free drink and some popcorn!
Panel members will share instances of when they have taken bold action to help improve or develop an aspect of their own livelihood, career or business - or that of another woman’s, or women’s status overall. We have an exciting panel lined up for this event, featuring local women in tech who have had to take many bold steps in their careers to make a change:
Chris McHugh, Managing Director of Doris
Chris has over 30 years experience in IT. Her knowledge and experience of Business Development, Technology and leading large teams means she brings a wide range of expertise to Doris, which she set up in 2012 with Kath Lucass. Doris is a commercial company with a social conscience and is dedicated to discovering, developing and delivering next generation talent into the technology and digital industries.
Robyn Dooley, Founder of Innovators Hub
Since age 14, Robyn has actively been involved in influencing local and national policies and campaigns to improve the lives of young people. Robyn is the founder of the educational organisation Innovators Hub. She’s been working on this for the past two years, fuelled by a passion to tackle the skills gap and provide more opportunities for local creative talent.
Jill Woods, Solutions Architect at Shop Direct
Jill is a mother of two and a Solutions Architect working for Shop Direct. Other than a Saturday day job in the record department in WHSmiths, she has always worked in IT. She wanted to be a computer programmer for as long as she could remember.
Aimee Harrison, FACT
Aimee is a Communities Coordinator, she currently works with FACT’s veterans and older people through their existing community outreach programmes.
We’ve also been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a home grown production, in conjunction with Georgia Flynn Creative. The film features northern women talking about their personal bold moments. We’ll be showcasing it at our event on 8th March at FACT. Keep an eye on our twitter for previews and use #beboldforchange to join the conversation.
This event is part of the Public Programme for new exhibition How much of this is fiction. (2 March - 21 May) at FACT. Please visit fact.co.uk/hmotif for more information.
